MARA SAFARI
It's not a household name for nothing: Masai Mara is considered by many
to be the finest wildlife destination on the continent.
First of all, you need to decide whether you want to experience the Masai Mara as
part of an extensive overland adventure tour through Kenya and neighbouring
countries - including Tanzania and the Serengeti - or as a destination in
its own right.
LionSafari offers a wide range of tailored Masai Mara tours and safaris that
either focus solely on the Masai Mara itself or combine it with
other great wildlife destinations.
And of course a Masai Mara safari would not be complete without an indulgent
few days on one of Kenya's magical tropical white sands beaches - combine the thrills of a Masai
Mara wildlife adventure with the spills of a few days of lazing on a white,
footprint-free beach in Mombasa, Tsavo safari , Lamu or Tanzania's exotic Zanzibar, rich in flavours and colors of the past eras.
An excursion into the heart of Maasai culture is a wonderful way to
experience a little of Africa's diverse and ancient traditions. Meet the Maasai during your safari holiday: visit a local village.
Travel to the Masai Mara and see the famed 'scarlet nomads' as they go about
their daily lives, for centuries in peaceful harmony with the rhythms of the
savannah.
Masai Mara safari tours are at the heart of African safari country, and depending
on the time you have, you could choose to exclusively explore Kenya or
arrange to visit some of East Africa's best destinations. The Masai Mara is
ideally located to allow you to do either.
Pop over into nearby Tanzania and see the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Mount
Kilimanjaro. Alternatively you can stay in Kenya, and explore its
magnificent big cats parks, lakes and reserves on any one of our exciting Lionsafaris.
When is the best time to travel to the Masai Mara? You can visit the Masai
Mara National Reserve at any time of year. From a weather point of view, and
great game viewing, there's no disadvantageous time to visit.
When to Travel to the Masai Mara
There is no real best time to go to the Masai Mara as it is a superb
game-viewing destination all year round. However, most tourists would like to
time their visit with the Great Wildebeest Migration. Getting the timing
right for this type of game view can be really tricky as it all depends on when the rains fall and set the
migration in motion.
For the best time to travel to great the Masai Mara for the the migration starts
and ends in the Masai Mara so from mid-August to early November, your
chances of witnessing the sheer mass of zabra and wilderbeast that gather are good.
